An excellent place for mountain biking, with many well-prepared tracks that aren't too difficult. The environment is beautiful. There's a shop with mechanics at the entrance who can assist if there's a problem. Friendly staff.

Just returned from a trip to Ballyhoura. Rented an adult bike and two kids' bikes. It was a very enjoyable experience, and the blue route seems accessible to most riders. The staff at the rental center were very helpful and friendly.

Recommend booking by phone for weekends and school holidays. Great bikes that are well maintained, you get a small pump and tools along with a spare tube and bag if you need.

The bikes were great and never missed a beat. Keep in mind, though, that you are liable for any damage to the bikes, and it wouldn’t be hard to hit a rock the wrong way and cause damage. The trails themselves are excellent, as long as you're prepared for them! We did the brown trail, which is labeled as moderate/difficult, and we found it quite challenging. At around 17 km, it was very technical (so many big rocks!) for us as mountain biking beginners. While we cycle longer distances on roads with ease, this was a whole different level. Essentially, the bikes are more than capable for the trails, but just make sure you're ready for the challenge!

Brilliant service, very professionally run with friendly staff at Ballyhoura MTB. The rental bikes are in top condition. There are toilets, indoor and outdoor picnic benches, and plenty of parking on non-event days. There's also a small, well-stocked snack shop on-site. Be sure to check the opening times before you travel and book ahead if you plan to rent a bike from Ballyhoura Trailriders. Parking is €5 (card only, no cash accepted at the parking machine).
