Ballyhoura is designed with beginners in mind. The new resurfacing has made it easier than ever for newcomers to enjoy. The trails are categorized by difficulty, much like ski runs, with varying colours and distances to suit all levels.

Yes, you can! Simply select your dates on the booking page, and the prices will be calculated automatically. However, for multi-day rentals on hardtails, please email us directly.

No, bikes are only allowed to be used within the Ballyhoura Trail network as signposted.

We ask that you check your bike when you receive it. Unfortunately, any damage to the bike is at the renter's expense. This rarely happens, but it can occur if the bike is accidentally clipped by trees or laid down incorrectly.

Yes, there are toilets and showers, as well as a secure, monitored car park. The site also includes a bike rental service and a coffee shop.

Yes, there is a €5 charge, payable via tap with a bank card at the entrance. Once you enter, you can use the trails for free. An annual pass is also available at www.coillteoutdoors.ie.

Yes! Mountain biking is available year-round, including in winter when it may be snowing. The only time we advise checking is if a weather warning has been issued for the area. This is rare, as Ballyhoura is sheltered from southern and southwest winds. Rain does not affect the purpose-built trails, and it’s often busier in winter.

We see many riders aged 7 or 8 and up. We recommend that children be able to cycle competently on the road and navigate obstacles, such as cones, with ease.

No dogs are allowed on the bike trails. Dogs are permitted on the walking trails only if they are kept on a lead. For safety reasons, dogs are not allowed on the bike trails due to the potential for accidents.
