Throughout the year, the region hosts a variety of mountain biking events that attract enthusiasts from across the country. Notable event include the Coillte Biking Blitz, an annual mass-start cross-country mountain bike event suitable for both children and adults.
These events provide excellent opportunities for riders to challenge themselves, connect with the biking community, and experience the diverse terrains of Ballyhoura.
EVENTS
The 15th edition of the exciting Biking Blitz Series kicks off in February 2025 with events taking place in Wicklow, Limerick, Galway, Dublin, Sligo, Laois and Offaly! The Biking Blitz is a mass start cross country mountain bike event, aimed primarily at beginners but with something for everyone.
Entry for the 2025 series is now open!
The GRS or Gravel Ride Series is a collective of great one-day off road cycling rides, designed to challenge and leave lasting memories.
There are three epic meets planned for the 2025 series - dates to be confirmed!

I’m Still Speechless" - Oisin O'Callaghan on his First Elite World Cup Win in Snowshoe
Ballyhoura's local rider Oisín O'Callaghan wins Ireland's first Elite World Cup! Oisín topped the podium in West Virginia, becoming the first Irishman to win an elite men's World Cup, and was closely followed by Ronan Dunne for a historic Ireland one-two.
Ireland hosts continental championship race
Amid perfect conditions, the 2014 European Marathon Mountain Bike championships took place in Ballyhoura, Co.Limerick. The top 55 male and 20 female riders in Europe took to the course to battle it out for the blue European championships jersey. The day dawned clear as the race village was buzzing with teams and riders preparing for the 93km course for the men and 75km for the ladies.
